Fall 2024 Undergrad Thermal Mechanical Co-Op/Intern

 

Location: Santa Clara.

 

 ONSITE/HYBRID: These roles require the student to work full time (40 hours a week), either in a hybrid or onsite work structure throughout the duration of the co-op/intern term.

 

PROGRAM TERM: August 19th, 2024, to December 13th, 2024. 

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

As an intern, you will be part of AMD's next generation of technology innovations. You will work with diverse and talented teams. Our intern program provides learning and career development opportunities. You will connect with leaders, receive one-on-one mentorship, and participate in  exciting events. With AMD, you will benefit from a combination of hands-on training and real-world work experiences that will give you a competitive edge. The AMD Server Platform Design Team is seeking a co-op engineer to assist with thermal mechanical testing, tools development, and debug centered on current/future PC architectures of AMD microprocessors/chipsets. 

 

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Design and review board-level products using industry-standard CAD tools  
  • Debug prototypes and perform lab experiments in order to achieve production-worthy products  

 

 PLEASE HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Setup, utilize, and maintain lab equipment such as power measurement test stations, optical scanners, vibration table, CSAM, and Instron.  
  • Build thermal tools to enable internal and external customers.
  • Write and review detailed technical documentation
  • Computer hardware such as motherboards, PCIe cards, computer system cabling.
  • CAD(Solidworks), power supplies, metal fabrication tools, major OS(Linux/Windows), and basic understanding of thermals(CFD exposure to OpenFoam/Flotherm/IcePak is a huge plus but not required).

 

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited US University, undergrad degree program.
  • Studying  Mechanical Engineering.
  • Eager to learn and improvise to solve problems.
  • Have a willingness to get hands dirty building and testing hardware.
