Job Description

Summary

This research program studies the risk factors and outcomes for childhood cancer and hematological diseases to determine what can be done to prevent these conditions. Through this program, interns will learn to use epidemiological research methods and apply these methods to investigate research questions related to childhood cancer and hematology.Interns will gain knowledge in epidemiological research methods through review of scientific literature, performing QC of study data, analyze research data, and performing data entry.

This internship provides hands-on training in epidemiological and medical research, offering participants the opportunity to develop foundational skills in data analysis, quality control, and scientific literature review. The intern will work closely with faculty mentors and participate in both group and one-on-one meetings to support ongoing research initiatives. Through active engagement in research activities, the intern will gain practical experience in applying epidemiological methods while contributing to data management and analysis efforts.

The program is designed for individuals interested in pursuing a career in medical or research-related fields and aims to strengthen both technical and communication skills.

Job Duties

  • Review scientific literature to support research projects
  • Perform quality control (QC) checks on study data
  • Analyze research data using established methodologies
  • Conduct data entry and maintain research datasets
  • Apply epidemiological research methods in practical settings
  • Participate in group meetings with program faculty
  • Attend one-on-one meetings with a designated faculty mentor
  • Support research activities to meet defined educational objectives

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in high school, trade/vocational school or higher education institution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in medical or epidemiological research
  • Currently enrolled in or planning to pursue a graduate program (preferred but not required)
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Interest or experience in data analysis, research methods, or scientific literature review
